A camera trap in the Gorodets municipal district captured an entire family of wild boars at a feeding site.

The head of the family approached the matter thoroughly. She climbed fully into the feeder and began to dine. Her striped piglets gathered around in an orderly fashion, picking up the scattered grain. The idyll lasted for a short time. A sudden crack broke the tranquility — the family instantly reacted to the alarming sound. The piglets scattered in a matter of seconds and almost disappeared without a trace into the forest thicket. The mother froze, scanning the woods with her ears. After a couple of moments, the fear passed, and the bravest little ones returned to the clearing first, followed by the other family members. The whole company returned to the feeder and continued to grunt, forgetting about the recent commotion.

The organization of feeding sites plays an important role in maintaining the population of wild animals. Thanks to them, animals find it easier to survive unfavorable periods of the year. Moreover, such sites allow specialists to observe the natural behavior of animals and record interesting episodes from their lives.
