Pavel Pozhigaylo highly appreciated the demographic policy of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On August 13, 2026, at 17:45, Society Member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation Pavel Pozhigaylo praised the Nizhny Novgorod region for its approach to supporting families and increasing birth rates. He spoke about this on the air of the radio station "Komsomolskaya Pravda."

      "I would like to draw attention to the very positive experience of the Nizhny Novgorod region. They have really taken a serious approach to the issue of demographics," Pozhigaylo said.

      Let us remind you that starting from July 1, 2025, every family, regardless of income, can receive up to one million rubles for the birth or adoption of a child under the "OSNOVA" program. Additionally, the Nizhny Novgorod region has an electronic certificate "Gift for the Newborn" worth 20,000 rubles.

      According to Pozhigaylo, the birth rate in the region has increased by 13% over the year. Thus, as of the end of July 2026, the birth rate in the Nizhny Novgorod region reached 1.358, maintaining a positive trend.

      "The experience of the Nizhny Novgorod region is overall very interesting. Here, it has been possible to combine job provision with the opportunity for a person to receive education or retraining, which means truly increasing the level of earnings. At the same time, precise and competent benefits allow a person not to lose their job at the start, not to lose hope, and to maintain the necessary means of existence," he added.

      It should be noted that the "OSNOVA - Nizhny Novgorod Life Project" program was initiated by Gleb Nikitin and is being implemented by the regional government with the participation of the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization "Institute of Demographic Development."
