The balloon in honor of the 805th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod rose above Cappadocia.

      On August 13, 2026, at 14:42, Culture and Leisure: A hot air balloon with an inscription dedicated to Nizhny Novgorod has risen in Turkish Cappadocia. This was reported by the Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Oleg Berkovich.

      According to him, the balloon displayed the phrase: "The only thing cooler than a Turkish sunrise is a Nizhny Novgorod sunset." The event was timed to coincide with City Day and the 805th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod.

      "With this launch, we wanted to congratulate Nizhny Novgorod in an unusual way and show that you don't have to travel far for bright impressions. Turkish sunrises have long been associated with flights over Cappadocia, while Nizhny Novgorod rightfully earns the title of 'Capital of Sunsets,'" noted Berkovich.

      At the same time, a hot air balloon was launched in Nizhny Novgorod. Thus, the organizers symbolically connected the Russian city with Cappadocia—a popular tourist location known for its hot air balloon flights. The event aims to draw attention to the region's tourism opportunities.

      The launch became part of the "Land of Creators" project, dedicated to travel, local culture, and attractions in the Nizhny Novgorod region as part of the collaboration between the Zen platform and the regional government.
