MegaFon has deployed high-speed internet at the "VOLGA Arena"

      On August 12, 2026, at 10:55, the company MegaFon completed the project to deploy telecom equipment inside the Ice Arena at Strelka, which has become a new landmark for Nizhny Novgorod. According to the results of the latest technical measurements, the data transfer speed at the sports facility can reach 250 Mbps, which is one of the best indicators for sports arenas in Russia. A confident signal is now available not only in the stands but also in the most hard-to-reach areas: training rooms, locker rooms, administrative offices, and the parking lot. The average network speed remains at 100 Mbps, while maximum speeds are 2.5 times higher, allowing thousands of spectators to simultaneously share content, stream live broadcasts, and use online services without delays.

      In designing the project, the telecom operator and the customer paid special attention to the 5G-ready principle: the communication infrastructure was built with a power reserve, allowing access to fifth-generation networks to be opened at any moment without long-term work.

      “A modern sports facility of this scale is unthinkable without advanced telecom capabilities,” notes Alexey Mikhailov, director of MegaFon in the Nizhny Novgorod region. “Together with the customer, we not only ensured a stable internet signal throughout the entire perimeter of the complex but also maximized mobile internet speed, creating a network based on the 5G-ready principle. This means we are ready to provide our clients at ‘VOLGA Arena’ access to fifth-generation networks at any moment, so that every visitor can access the most modern services without delays, regardless of whether they are in the stands or in the locker room.”

      “VOLGA Arena,” which includes three ice rinks, a universal sports hall, and an acrobatics hall, has already been recognized as the best among new and under-construction ice facilities in the country according to the results of the XIII annual all-Russian award “Sports Facilities.”

      The Ice Arena will accommodate more than 12,000 spectators. MegaFon’s infrastructure has already been tested and is ready for peak loads, providing the ability to quickly share spectacular goal moments, conduct live broadcasts, and address urgent issues using online services from any point in the arena.
