Since the beginning of 2026, 1,634 in vitro fertilization procedures have been conducted in the Nizhny Novgorod region. A total of 3,121 free IVF quotas are allocated for residents of the region this year. This was reported by the editor-in-chief of "Statsionar-Press," Alexey Nikonov, citing data from the regional compulsory health insurance fund.
More than 428 million rubles will be allocated this year for the procedures under the compulsory medical insurance system. Almost 170 million rubles of this amount come from the regional budget.
Under the compulsory medical insurance, patients are covered for the entire IVF cycle, necessary medications, consultations with specialists, as well as cryopreservation and subsequent embryo transfer. However, patients will have to pay for the storage of embryos themselves. A free procedure can be obtained if there are medical indications. Currently, nine medical organizations in the Nizhny Novgorod region provide such assistance. Patients have the right to choose the clinic for treatment themselves.
