The "VeloNizhny" festival will take place in Nizhny Novgorod on August 23.

On August 10, 2026, at 09:22, it was announced that on August 23 in Nizhny Novgorod, the "VeloNizhny" festival (6+) will take place, gathering around 1,500 cycling enthusiasts and featuring a 10-kilometer bike ride through the city's iconic landmarks.

Holding such large-scale events is an important part of implementing the state program "Sport of Russia," which, starting in 2025, is aimed at creating conditions for physical activity and improving the quality of life for Russians, as directed by President Vladimir Putin. Scaling up sports infrastructure, engaging residents in mass events, developing children's sports, and supporting veterans of the Special Military Operation through adaptive physical education are key tasks of the program that are currently being successfully addressed in our region.

The bike festival is organized as part of the VI stage of the multi-day cycling race "Russia." The start and finish will be organized at the football stadium on Strelka, with the route running along the Volga embankment through the Kanavinsky Bridge to the River Station and back.

Anyone interested can participate in the festival regardless of professional training by registering for free until August 22 at велогонка.рф/nizhny. Participants must bring their own bicycle and helmet; a medical clearance is not required.

On the same day, a stage of the "Russia" cycling race for professional athletes will take place in Nizhny Novgorod. The distance will be 60 km, and the route will pass through the central streets, crossing the Kanavinsky Bridge. Medical clearance is required to participate in the race.

Additionally, as part of the cycling race and festival in Nizhny Novgorod, a gastro festival is planned, featuring tastings of dishes from restaurants and farmers, culinary master classes, and entertainment programs. Information about the location of the gastro festival will be published later.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Sports of Russia in collaboration with the "League of Heroes" and the All-Russian Public Organization "Federation of Cycling Sports of Russia," with support from the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and executive bodies of the subjects of the Russian Federation that are part of the NTG "Golden Ring."

Routes along the "Golden Ring" are becoming more interesting and convenient each year. It is worth noting that the national project "Tourism and Hospitality," initiated by President Vladimir Putin, aims to develop tourist infrastructure, prepare personnel, promote travel across the country, and improve service quality. Within its framework, five federal projects are being implemented.
