In Kulebaki, a pensioner handed over 845,000 rubles to scammers for a "bill verification."

      In Kulebaki, a 77-year-old local resident lost 845,000 rubles after a conversation with a fraudster. The unknown person convinced the pensioner to hand over his savings supposedly for checking the authenticity of banknotes.

      According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Kulebaki," an unknown person called the elderly man on his landline, introducing himself as a law enforcement officer.

      The interlocutor provided false information that fake money had allegedly been discovered in banks. After that, the pensioner was offered to hand over his savings to a specialist for "checking" and "safekeeping."

      Believing the caller, the man prepared 845,000 rubles in cash. A courier arrived at his home to collect the money, to whom the pensioner handed over the entire amount.

      Previously, the 77-year-old resident of Kulebaki had already been informed about common schemes of remote fraud. Despite this, in this particular situation, he trusted the criminals.

      After the incident, the man contacted the police. The investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Kulebaki" initiated a criminal case under part 3 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - fraud.

      Currently, police officers are conducting operational search activities. Law enforcement is identifying the identities and whereabouts of individuals who may be involved in the theft of the pensioner's money.
