AI has started analyzing patients' urine in a Nizhny Novgorod hospital.

On August 10, 2026, at 12:40 PM, Society In GKB No. 3 of Nizhny Novgorod, an automatic urine analysis station based on artificial intelligence was launched. As reported on the institution's social media, the new equipment has been operating in the hospital since June 2026. The station automatically determines 15 biochemical parameters, including glucose, protein, bilirubin, acidity, and specific gravity. Two technologies are used for analysis—reflective photometry and refractometry. This allows for faster and more accurate results. The station also has a built-in microscope. It independently scans the sediment and recognizes red blood cells, white blood cells, bacteria, fungi, salts, cylinders, and even spermatozoa. After this, artificial intelligence forms a classification and displays it on the screen. It is then checked by laboratory doctors: specialists confirm the result or adjust it if necessary. The station also includes an automatic quality control system. It immediately notifies specialists even of minor malfunctions in the equipment's operation.

"Working with modern equipment is a pleasure. Yes, the equipment requires in-depth study, but its power and speed compensate for all the time spent on mastering it," specialists note.
