The Nizhny Novgorod Investigative Committee is looking into the death of a 16-year-old boy while paddleboarding.

      On August 9, 2026, 15:52 Incidents The Investigative Committee organized a preliminary investigation into the death of a 16-year-old teenager in Navashino. The minor died while swimming in a quarry on August 8. Specialists examined the body and found no signs of foul play. A forensic examination has been appointed. According to the Investigative Committee for the region, the deceased was riding a paddleboard with peers. There were no adults with them. At some point, the boy fell off the paddleboard and did not resurface. Investigators are currently determining the circumstances of the incident. A procedural decision will be made based on the results of the investigation. It is worth noting that a year ago, a 12-year-old teenager died on a lake in the Dalnekonstantinovsky district while riding a pedal boat with friends. He slid off a slide on the watercraft and went underwater. His body was found almost a day later. The tragedy occurred on the territory of a private beach. The pedal boat was rented. The deceased was not wearing a life jacket. A criminal case was initiated regarding this incident. The administrator of the eco-park is a person of interest. The progress of the investigation is under the control of the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin. Additionally, the court ruled to suspend the activities of the eco-park after reviewing the prosecutor's investigation materials. However, the court's decision has not yet come into legal force.
