      The main stage of the admission campaign to Nizhny Novgorod universities has concluded. Almost all universities in the region have closed enrollment for budget-funded places in bachelor's and specialist programs. This was announced at a press conference on August 7, attended by a correspondent from NIA "Nizhny Novgorod."

      According to Viktor Anisimov, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, more than 14,000 people took the Unified State Exam (USE) this year, of which 12,000 are graduates of the 2025/2026 academic year. According to preliminary data, 9,675 students have already been enrolled in bachelor's and specialist programs of all forms of study, of which 8,700 are in full-time education. The average score of applicants has increased by an average of 30%.

      The number of graduates who achieved maximum results on the USE has also increased in the region. This year, 220 individuals scored 100 points in at least one subject. Additionally, a student from the Nizhny Novgorod Region achieved the maximum result in three disciplines.

      According to Viktor Anisimov, the prestige of engineering specialties is growing in the region, while the number of non-budget places in fields related to economics and law is decreasing.

      "This indicates that a sufficiently high level of coordination work is being conducted with applicants. They are informed about the advantages of choosing engineering fields, which are currently in demand in the country. They begin to see the prospects for developing their projects at this level," noted the minister.

      Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N. I. Lobachevsky

      In 2026, the admission campaign at Lobachevsky University for full-time budget-funded education concluded with the enrollment of 2,470 students. Of these, 505 were accepted during the priority enrollment stage: 264 under a separate quota (including participants of the Special Military Operation and other categories), 120 under a special quota, 80 under a targeted quota, and 41 applicants as winners and prizewinners of Olympiads. During the main stage, 1,965 individuals were enrolled.

      The most sought-after fields of study traditionally included computer science and IT, applied informatics, software engineering, economics, law, management, and public administration.

      In several fields, the passing score has significantly increased. For example, in "Document Studies and Archival Studies," it rose by 70 points; in "Physics," by 62; in "Medical Biophysics," by 57; and in "Biology," by 36 points.

      This year, the university launched several new educational programs, including "Literary Creativity," "Information and Analytical Security Systems," "Social Work in the Field of Social Architecture," "Information Systems and Technologies," "Chemistry of Biomedically Significant Materials," as well as a program in bioinformatics and biodata engineering in collaboration with the IT campus "Neimark."

      Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistic University named after N. A. Dobrolyubov

      In 2026, Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistic University enrolled 249 students in budget-funded full-time places, which is 30% more compared to the previous year.

      A total of over 30,000 applications were submitted to the university. The increase in the number of students enrolled in the university's specialties was 25%.

      As part of targeted admission, 10 individuals were enrolled, 14 under a special quota, 32 under a separate quota, and five applicants became winners and prizewinners of Olympiads.

      The most competitive fields were "International Relations" with a passing score of 283, "Translation and Translation Studies (English)" with 275 points, and "Translation and Translation Studies (Arabic)" with 269 points.

      This year, the university introduced a new training program "Pedagogical Education with Two Profiles" — English and Chinese languages. The competition for this program was 96 applicants per place.

      At NGLU, there has been a noted increase in interest in humanitarian and language fields, including the study of Asian and Arabic languages.

      Nizhny Novgorod State Architectural and Civil Engineering University

      As a result of the 2026 admission campaign, Nizhny Novgorod State Architectural and Civil Engineering University recorded a growing interest in engineering fields of study.

      For budget-funded places in engineering specialties, 827 individuals were enrolled, of which 735 were through the general competition and 92 under separate and special quotas. The share of quota categories accounted for about 12% of the total budget admission volume.

      The number of applications for budget-funded places increased to 5,000 compared to 3,800 the previous year, representing an increase of about 30%. Across all levels and forms of study, there is also an increase of approximately 30%, while for programs of secondary vocational education, the increase is more than double (almost 110%).

      For certain fields, the passing score increased by more than 50 points. For example, in the "Construction" field, with 309 budget places, the minimum passing score reached 203, while in "Construction of Unique Buildings and Structures," it was 244 points. Increases were also noted in fields related to metrology, fire safety, and ecology.

      Additionally, after major renovations, the university's second dormitory with 312 places opened, allowing for increased accommodation capacity for out-of-town students.

      Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Management - a branch of RANEPA

      In 2026, the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Management - a branch of RANEPA is ready to accept 2,233 applicants, which is almost 300 more than the previous year.

      Of these, 434 places are budget-funded: 209 in bachelor's and specialist programs, 160 in secondary vocational education programs, 64 in master's programs, and one in postgraduate studies.

      Under a special quota, nine applicants were enrolled, and under a separate quota, 30. Four winners and prizewinners of Olympiads also entered the university.

      The average score of those enrolled in the programs was 90.

      In 2026, the university will launch three new master's programs: "Legal Support for the Use of Artificial Intelligence" in collaboration with the IT campus "Neimark," "Public Administration of Regional Tax Policy" in collaboration with the Academy of Leadership and Administration of Business Processes of the Federal Tax Service of Russia - Volga, and "Legal Regulation of Guardianship and Custody" in collaboration with the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      Additionally, at the bachelor's level, enrollment took place for a new program with inter-branch mobility "Leaders of Regions" in the field of "Public and Municipal Administration."
