More than a thousand people attended the "Reaching the Goal" race in Nizhny Novgorod.

      More than 1,000 people participated in sports events held in the May 1 Culture and Recreation Park in Nizhny Novgorod on August 1, 2026, in anticipation of Railway Workers' Day. This was reported by the press service of the GZhD on August 3. The events included an extensive program with sports activities, children's master classes, and performances by creative groups. The main event of the day was the charity run "Reaching the Goal!", which saw more than 700 participants competing in several distances. Together, they managed to raise over 500,000 rubles. All funds will be directed to the non-profit organization "Nizhny Novgorod Oncology Research Center," which helps children undergoing treatment in the oncology and hematology departments of NODKB and their families. Participants in the run were awarded medals, and for the I, II, and III places – medals, diplomas, and commemorative gifts. Additionally, thanks to the campaign "I don't run, but I will help!", anyone willing could provide assistance to seriously ill children. The press service added that on August 1, a chess tournament was held on Malaya Gorkovskaya Street for children aged 8 to 14. The competitions were dedicated to Railway Workers' Day and the 90th anniversary of Children's Railways in Russia. As a result of the tournament, seven young chess players were awarded valuable prizes.
