In Shakhunya, the 83rd anniversary of the city's founding and the 95th anniversary of the district were celebrated.

      On August 3, 2026, at 15:08 Culture and Leisure, festive events were held in Shakhunya in honor of the 83rd anniversary of the city's founding and the 95th anniversary of the formation of the district. The anniversary celebrations were attended by honored guests — State Duma Deputy Artem Kavinov, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Denis Bakiyev, and Legislative Assembly Deputy Alexander Tabachnikov.

      The head of the local government, Anton Pugachev, emphasized that the success of the district is the result of the joint work of the authorities, businesses, and the residents themselves.

      “Today we see how Shakhunya is changing before our eyes. We are not just building houses or renovating hospitals — we are creating an environment where it is desirable to raise children and build a future. I thank our partners, the regional government, and every resident for their concern. We have many ambitious plans ahead, and I am confident that together we will make our district even more prosperous and cozy,” noted the head of the district.

      As part of the festive program, thematic exhibitions dedicated to key stages of the district's development, performances by creative groups, and interactive platforms telling the history of Shakhunya's formation were organized for residents.

      The appearance of the city is actively transforming: over the past five years, 6 public spaces have been improved in Shakhunya under the program “Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment” of the national project “Infrastructure for Life.” In addition, residents are actively participating in initiative budgeting: since 2023, 26 “You Decide!” projects have been implemented in the district.

      In 2026, a 73-apartment building opened on Komsomolskaya Street, 41. The facility was built as part of the regional program for resettlement from emergency housing. As a result, 92 people moved into modern apartments, and the total area of the resettled dilapidated housing amounted to almost 1,600 square meters.

      Significant changes have occurred in the social infrastructure of the district. In 2025, the reconstruction of the therapeutic building of the Shakhunya Central District Hospital was completed, where a covered passage was built connecting the intensive care unit with the surgical department and operating block, which significantly improved the efficiency and quality of medical assistance.
