Nizhny Novgorod Aircraft Plant is mastering the production of components for the MS-21 aircraft.
July 30, 2026 16:51 Economy The Nizhny Novgorod aircraft manufacturing plant "Sokol" has been included in the production cooperation for the passenger aircraft MS-21 program. This was reported by the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC). As part of the civil aviation development program, the enterprise is responsible for manufacturing the under-fuselage compartment, door mechanisms, and a wide range of parts for the MS-21 aircraft. The assembly production of NAP "Sokol" has already completed work on the first under-fuselage compartment. For its assembly, the plant received a hermetic bottom from the Ulyanovsk enterprise "Aviastar," as well as upper and lower sections. After the installation of the pipeline, the fully equipped compartment will be sent to the Irkutsk aircraft plant, where it will be used in the further assembly of the aircraft. At the same time, the enterprise is preparing to manufacture the second under-fuselage compartment. The UAC notes that its assembly will soon be fully localized in Nizhny Novgorod. To ensure high quality of assembly work, the plant has installed new automated equipment for performing riveting operations. The installation of the complex has been completed, and an acceptance act has been signed. The next step will be personnel training. Operators of the new riveting machine will undergo two months of training under the guidance of specialists from the Gromov Flight Research Institute. Special compartment panels have already been manufactured for training, on which riveting modes will be practiced. After completing the course, specialists will be able to work independently on the new equipment, which will be an important step towards the full localization of the under-fuselage compartment production at the NAP "Sokol" site. It is worth noting that the preparation of the "Sokol" plant for the production of the under-fuselage compartment for the prospective Russian airliner MS-21-310 began back in 2023. In 2025, the enterprise transitioned to the assembly of the first prototype. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
