Nizhny Novgorod guides-translators will be granted the right to use sign language.
In the Nizhny Novgorod region, regional legislation on tourism activities will be adjusted in accordance with new federal requirements. The project has been posted on the website of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region. In particular, the concept of "guide-interpreter" is clarified: it is now established in regional law that such specialists can be proficient not only in a foreign language but also in Russian sign language. Furthermore, the powers of the regional government authorities will include the requirement to approve the form of the badge identification card for a tour guide (guide) or guide-interpreter based on general requirements that will be established by the authorized federal executive authority. The document (if adopted) will come into force on March 1, 2027. It is worth noting that up to 90% of development costs will be reimbursed to Nizhny Novgorod NHP.
