Borskaya Central District Hospital performed the first operation to remove a thrombus from the blood vessels of the brain.

      On July 16, 2026, at 17:57, Society In the Bor Central District Hospital, an emergency thrombectomy was performed for the first time in cases of ischemic stroke — doctors removed a thrombus from the blood vessels of the brain. This was reported by the editor-in-chief of the medical publication "Stacionar-Press," Alexey Nikonov, on his Max channel.

      The patient was a young woman. The operation was carried out by a multidisciplinary team from the department of endovascular diagnostic and treatment methods. The specialists successfully removed the thrombus, restored blood flow, and prevented irreversible brain damage. The woman is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

      Nikonov added that emergency thrombectomy is considered one of the most effective methods for treating stroke. It allows for the restoration of blood flow and reduces the risk of disability.

      Earlier, it was reported that doctors at the Nizhny Novgorod Geriatric Center restored the vision of a 90-year-old patient.
