Three Nizhny Novgorod residents stole more than 858 tons of soda: they will be tried.

      On July 14, 2026, at 14:38, Incidents: Three residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region will stand trial for the embezzlement of chemical products from an industrial enterprise. The investigation of the criminal case was completed by the staff of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as reported by the agency's press service.

      The accused in the case include an individual entrepreneur and two drivers. According to the investigation, the entrepreneur, who was engaged in the transportation of chemical products under transport and forwarding service contracts, conspired with the drivers he involved in the transportation of goods.

      The investigation believes that from December 2024 to August 2025, the defendants systematically siphoned off part of the transported product during the delivery of caustic soda from the manufacturing enterprise to the industrial consumer.

      The stolen chemical substance was stored in a specially equipped garage box in the Kstovo district. The premises contained containers and equipment for pumping and storing the products. Subsequently, the caustic soda was sold in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      Law enforcement officials identified two episodes of illegal activity. The total volume of embezzled products exceeded 858 tons, and the material damage to the owner amounted to 667,674 rubles.

      The defendants compensated part of the damage. In addition, some of the stolen products were seized by law enforcement officers during investigative actions.

      The three accused are charged with crimes under parts 2 and 3 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Embezzlement or Misappropriation." During the investigation, they were under a travel ban and required to behave properly.

      The investigation was completed on June 30, 2026. The materials of the criminal case were sent to the Kstovo City Court for substantive consideration.
