From July 28 to 30, the XV International Festival-Competition of Orthodox and Patriotic Song "Arzamas Domes" will take place in Arzamas, with more than 150 performers participating. The event is organized with the blessing of Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas and is timed to coincide with the Day of the Baptism of Rus, the celebration of the Days of St. Seraphim of Sarov, as well as the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. The festival is organized by the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), the administration of the city of Arzamas, the charitable foundation of St. Seraphim of Sarov, and the ANO "Management Company 'Sarov-Diveevo Cluster'." The acceptance of applications for the remote qualifying round ended on June 28. This year, 592 people from 26 regions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus expressed interest in the festival. "The 'Arzamas Domes' festival has long surpassed the framework of an ordinary music competition. During the gala concert, the city transforms into a stage for all that is good and bright. It is gratifying that this year we are once again welcoming participants from the Republic of Belarus. For Arzamas, as a sister city of four Belarusian cities, this is truly important," said the mayor of Arzamas, Alexander Shchelokov. The Nizhny Novgorod region demonstrated particular activity in the application campaign. From Nizhny Novgorod, Arzamas, Vyksa, Gorodets, Sarov, Balakhna, Lyskov, and other municipalities, 122 applications were received. Among the participants are authors-performers, soloists, vocal ensembles, and church groups. The culmination of the festival will be a large gala concert, which will take place on July 30 in the Cathedral Square of Arzamas. The famous performer Maya Balashova will be a participant in the gala concert.
For 14 years of the festival, more than 4,000 people from 50 subjects of the Russian Federation, as well as representatives from Serbia, Ukraine, the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, and Uzbekistan have participated.
