The investigators of the Balakhna police department have completed the investigation of the criminal case regarding the traffic accident.

      The investigation of a criminal case initiated by the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Balakhna" has been completed. The case was opened on the grounds of a crime provided for by part 1 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles).

      It has been established that on February 4 of this year, a man born in 1974, driving a truck, lost control in the area of house 22 on Nesterov Lane in the city of Balakhna and entered the oncoming lane, where he collided with another truck. As a result of the accident, a passenger in the vehicle of the perpetrator of the traffic accident was injured and hospitalized. Subsequently, the harm caused to his health was assessed as serious.

      Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate and investigators conducted a comprehensive set of investigative actions and operational-search measures aimed at establishing an objective picture of what happened, interviewing witnesses and eyewitnesses of the accident.

      The investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and its materials have been sent to court for substantive consideration. In accordance with the law, the defendant may be sentenced to a maximum punishment of up to 2 years in prison.
