      More than 560 traffic accidents occurred in the Nizhny Novgorod region since the beginning of summer 2026. As reported in response to a request from the IA "NTA-Volga" by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Nizhny Novgorod region, from June 1 to July 10, 2026, a total of 562 road traffic accidents were registered in the region. In these accidents, 36 people died, and 703 people sustained injuries of varying severity.

      During the reporting period, 40 mass accidents (involving three or more vehicles) were recorded, in which people were injured. The number of accidents was 547; the number of fatalities was 34; the number of injured was 688.

      According to the agency, an analysis of the road situation shows that the dominant factors contributing to traffic accidents remain gross violations of traffic rules by drivers:

      - exceeding the established speed limit (90 accidents);

      - inappropriate speed for specific traffic conditions (61 accidents);

      - incorrect distance choice (55 accidents);

      - failure to observe the order of passage (74 accidents);

      - violation of road sign requirements (34 accidents).

      Since the beginning of summer, there have been 46 car accidents involving individuals who were intoxicated or refused to undergo medical examination. "The employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Nizhny Novgorod region are conducting systematic work to prevent such violations. We urge citizens not to remain indifferent and to promptly report cases of inadequate driving on the roads via the communication channel 112," the press service noted.
