Employees of the Nizhny Novgorod city administration have started volunteering at network gas stations.

July 12, 2026 13:23 Society Almost 1300 employees of the Nizhny Novgorod administration, district administrations, and subordinate institutions have been working as volunteers at 55 network gas stations in the city since July 9. This was reported by the mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, on his MAX channel. According to the mayor, the employees assist drivers and gas station workers under the current temporary measures for fuel sales. Two responsible persons are assigned to each gas station, working on a duty schedule. Volunteers are present at the gas stations in special vests. The employees' tasks include monitoring fuel availability and informing motorists about the current situation to avoid queue buildup and unnecessary waiting. They also check vehicle registration numbers in accordance with the introduced temporary fuel sales rules, helping drivers navigate the gas station territory more quickly and begin refueling once it is their turn. Additionally, volunteers consult motorists on arising questions and, if necessary, advise them on where to seek help. Yuri Shalabaev noted that, overall, the situation at the gas stations remains normal. According to him, the number of attempts to take advantage of a "privileged" position out of turn is decreasing, and the system of refueling on even and odd days helps to relieve the stations and maintain order. "Despite all this, no one is wearing rose-colored glasses and is well aware of reality. Difficulties are not being downplayed—they are being addressed," the mayor stated. It is worth noting that searchers from "Volunteer" also help manage queues at gas stations. It was reported that the Nizhny Novgorod mayor's office is moving some meetings online due to the fuel situation. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
