Starting from July 13, the Ministry of Forestry will begin issuing permits for the hunting of feathered game.

      In the Nizhny Novgorod region, permits for hunting feathered game with hunting dogs and birds of prey will begin to be issued. Permits for hunting resources can be obtained from the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife Protection of the Nizhny Novgorod region starting from July 13, 2026. The hunting season with hunting dogs in the Nizhny Novgorod region is established for the following periods:

      — for marsh and meadow game — from July 25 to November 30 (woodcock, snipe, jack snipe, grasshopper warbler, lapwing, corncrake);

      — for forest game (except for woodcock) — from August 5 to February 28 (common capercaillie, black grouse, hazel grouse, woodcock);

      — for field game and woodcock — from August 5 to November 30 (gray partridge, quail, pigeons, and doves);

      — for waterfowl — from August 15 to November 30 (geese, ducks, coots, reed warblers).

      Amateur and sport hunting for species included in the Red Books of the Russian Federation and the Nizhny Novgorod region is prohibited in the region, including: white partridge, black grouse, as well as several species of waders (great snipe, curlew, marbled godwit, whimbrel, stilt, sandpiper, little stint, and least sandpiper).

      The Ministry of Forestry noted that hunting for feathered game with one hunting dog is allowed with the participation of no more than three hunters. Each hunter must have the documents required by law for hunting.

      On the official website of the department, in the section "Information for Hunters/Issuance of Hunting Permits," samples of payment documents are posted, as well as details for paying state fees and charges for the use of wildlife resources.

      In addition, when the IV-V classes of fire hazard are established in the region, a ban on visiting forests is introduced. To inform citizens, the Ministry of Forestry updates a map of forest fire hazards daily on its website, marking areas where visiting forests is prohibited.
