Gleb Nikitin on FC "Nizhny Novgorod": "We did everything to keep the team."

      The Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, commented on the changes in the football club that became known the day before. It is worth noting that the team has returned to its historical name "Nizhny Novgorod," and the new key shareholder is entrepreneur Andrey Artemov.

      "In a challenging economic situation, we did everything to keep the team. This is a significant event for regional sports," said Nikitin.

      He noted that for several months, the regional government, together with the Center for Urban Development and Regional Strategies (CURS), has been negotiating the future of the club and searching for an investor who shares the region's values.

      The head of the region reported that thanks to the work of the coaching staff, the club's management, and the support of the new shareholder, it was possible to maintain stability and the core of the team, as well as to conduct a worthy transfer campaign before the start of the new PARI League season.

      At the same time, the governor emphasized that the priority for the Nizhny Novgorod regional government remains the development of youth football. According to him, free football schools and sections will continue to operate, and accessibility to sports for children remains a key task for regional authorities.

      It is worth noting that in the recently concluded season, the Nizhny Novgorod team finished in 15th place in the RPL standings and directly left the elite division, moving to the First League. Commenting on what happened, the head of the region said: "Perhaps this is timely."

      Immediately after the team's relegation from the RPL, the bookmaker company PARI assured that there are no plans to rename the football club.
