In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the issuance of permits for hunting with dogs will be opened.

Starting from July 13, 2026, the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife Protection of the Nizhny Novgorod Region will begin issuing permits for the hunting of feathered game with hunting dogs and birds of prey. The hunting season with hunting dogs in the region is set for the following dates: for marsh and meadow game - from July 25 to November 30, for upland game (excluding woodcock) - from August 5 to February 28, for field game and woodcock - from August 5 to November 30, for waterfowl - from August 15 to November 30. The Ministry of Forestry reminded that amateur and sport hunting of species listed in the Red Book of Russia and the regional Red Book is prohibited in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. These include the white partridge, the black grouse, as well as several species of waders, including the great snipe, the curlew, the godwit, the whimbrel, the black-tailed godwit, the sandpiper, the little stint, and the stilt. The agency also noted that hunting for feathered game with one hunting dog is allowed with the participation of no more than three hunters. Each participant in the hunt must have the documents required by law. Permits can be obtained at the Ministry of Forestry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region at the address: Nizhny Novgorod, Kostina Street, 2, office 67, by phone 8 (831) 434-32-88, as well as at the territorial divisions of the ministry. The ministry also reminded that when the IV-V classes of fire hazard are established in the region, a ban on visiting forests is introduced.
