      On July 7, in Nizhny Novgorod, a ceremony was held at the House of People's Unity to award the winners of the competition "Medical Dynasties of the Nizhny Novgorod Region - 2026". The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region in collaboration with the Trade Union of Healthcare Workers of the region for the third consecutive year. In 2026, the competition was held in three categories: "Oldest Dynasty," "Honored Dynasty," and "For Generational Continuity." The jury evaluated the total work experience of family members, the number of generations of medical professionals, professional achievements, and contributions to the development of healthcare. Representatives from six families received awards. Deputy Minister of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Tatiana Kovalenko noted that medical dynasties preserve the traditions of domestic healthcare and serve as examples for young specialists. The chairman of the trade union of healthcare workers of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Vasily Prikaznov reported that during the study of family archives, one of the oldest medical dynasties in the region was identified — the Abaymovs — Sidorovs — Yandygans with a total work experience of 828 years. In the category "For Generational Continuity," the first place was awarded to the Abaymovs – Sidorovs – Yandygans dynasty (representative — surgeon Denis Mikhailovich Sidorov from the City Clinical Hospital No. 40 in Nizhny Novgorod). The dynasty includes more than 60 specialists across six generations and traces its history back to a zemstvo paramedic from the late 19th century. The second place was awarded to the Ivanchenkos dynasty (representative — associate professor of PIMU, candidate of medical sciences Elena Yuryevna Ivanchenkova), and the third place went to the Karpovs dynasty (representative — head of the department at City Hospital No. 2 in Dzerzhinsk Natalia Evgenyevna Karpova). In the category "Oldest Dynasty," the winner was the Peterson dynasty (representative — Andrey Vladimirovich Manuylenko, Nizhny Novgorod Regional Children's Clinical Hospital). The family's history dates back to before 1917, with a total work experience of 567 years. The second place was taken by the Golovanovs dynasty (representative — pediatrician Larisa Yuryevna Neronetskaya from Vyksa Central District Hospital) with a total experience of 182 years. The winner in the category "Honored Dynasty" was the Panin dynasty (representative — pediatrician Anna Viktorovna Panina from Children's City Hospital No. 17 in Nizhny Novgorod). The total experience of nine family representatives exceeds 216 years. The Ministry of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region noted that supporting medical dynasties and enhancing the prestige of the profession are directions for developing the human resources potential of the industry. Work is being carried out as part of the national project "Sustained and Active Life," which is being implemented at the request of Russian President Vladimir Putin and aims to increase life expectancy by 2030, update medical infrastructure, and develop the healthcare system.
