The IT industry has become the highest-paying sector in Nizhny Novgorod.

      On July 6, 2026, at 10:11, Economy: Nizhny Novgorod ranked 22nd among the hundred largest cities in Russia in terms of salary levels. This data was provided by analysts from RIA Novosti.

      The highest salaries in the city are earned by specialists in the "IT and communications" sector. The average nominal salary in this field reaches 177 thousand rubles per month. This is significantly higher than the average in Nizhny Novgorod, which is 104 thousand rubles.

      The study was based on the results of the first quarter of 2026. Only those sectors where at least 3% of residents work were taken into account, and small businesses were not included.

      Overall, across the country, the average nominal salary for the results of 2025 exceeded 100 thousand rubles. Over the year, it grew by 14.3%. In the first quarter of 2026, the positive trend continued: the figure increased to 108 thousand rubles.

      The leader of the ranking was Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. In the mining sector, they pay an average of 528 thousand rubles per month—almost three times more than the average in the city.

      Moscow took second place: in the banking and financial sector, the average salary is about 398 thousand rubles. Krasnogorsk ranked third, where the highest earnings are in IT—approximately 368 thousand rubles per month.
