July 2, 2026 17:38 Participation policy in the elections for deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region of the VIII convocation, which will take place in September this year. This decision was made today, July 2, during the regular conference.
As noted by the first deputy governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the first deputy secretary of the regional branch of "United Russia," Andrey Gneushev, the list of candidates was formed based on the results of the preliminary voting, which took place in the region from May 25 to May 31.
"It was the residents of Nizhny Novgorod who determined the candidates worthy of being nominated from 'United Russia' in the elections during the preliminary voting. We build all our work around the residents and rely on their opinions when making key decisions. Our task is to serve the people - to improve social policy, to assist families with children, our participants in the special military operation and their loved ones, and to develop territories to enhance the comfort of life. Our key task now is to form the party's election program, which will be entirely based on the opinions of the people. And it will be those whom the residents of Nizhny Novgorod support in the upcoming elections who will implement all the mandates," said Andrey Gneushev.
At the conference, the top five leaders of the "United Russia" list for the regional parliament were presented. It was headed by the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the secretary of the regional branch of the party, Gleb Nikitin. Along with him, the general regional list included the chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Yevgeny Lyulin, RF senator Olga Shchetinina, Hero of Labor of Russia, chief physician of the City Clinical Hospital No. 29 of Nizhny Novgorod, Yulia Garevskaya, and the head of the urban district of the city of Arzamas, Alexander Shchelokov. Additionally, 25 regional groups of the regional list of candidates from 75 people have been formed, and candidacies for single-mandate districts have been approved.
As emphasized by the deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Regional Policy and Local Self-Government, head of the Volga Interregional Coordinating Council of the party, Roman Lyubarsky, this year "United Russia" is going into the elections with an updated composition, and the competition was 10 people per seat.
"The preliminary voting allowed us to select the most deserving candidates, among whom there are both experienced politicians and new faces who are motivated to work for the benefit of the region. These are people who constantly communicate with residents and clearly understand what needs to be changed. We hear what concerns the residents of Nizhny Novgorod: support for families, healthcare, roads, education - these are the topics in the focus of our attention. All the party's work is aimed at ensuring that every person in the Nizhny Novgorod region lives with dignity. We do not promise the impossible, but we clearly understand what needs to be done," said Roman Lyubarsky.
"In the party's team, professionals from various fields have gathered - industry, agriculture, social policy, education, and economics. We are united by a common task - to continue implementing the development strategy of the Nizhny Novgorod region, responding in a timely manner to new challenges and fulfilling the tasks set by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. Now, together with the residents, we are completing the formation of the People's Program. It is with this program that we are going into the elections, and it is precisely this that we will implement in the next five years. A lot of work lies ahead, and we are ready for it. We count on the support of the residents of Nizhny Novgorod to maintain a strong majority in the Legislative Assembly and ensure the stable development of the region," said RF senator Olga Shchetinina.
Party members noted that the upcoming elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region will be one of the most important events for the region, and "United Russia" is going with a strong and responsible team capable of solving the most complex tasks.
"The candidates from 'United Russia' have undergone serious preliminary selection. The final choice will be made by the residents on September 20, on the Unified Voting Day. Of the 50 seats in the new composition of the parliament, half will be distributed in single-mandate districts, and another 25 will be allocated among parties according to the proportional system. Each deputy must be as close to the people as possible, hear their requests, and help in solving specific issues. It is precisely based on such appeals that a new People's Program is being formed today, which includes not local, but systemic proposals: from transforming school territories into public spaces to supporting small businesses and social gasification. And only through constant dialogue with citizens can we justify their trust and ensure the sustainable development of the region," believes the chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Yevgeny Lyulin.
As emphasized by political scientist, head of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Civil Society Development Fund, Yevgeny Semyonov, in the upcoming elections, the party will focus on teamwork.
"It is no coincidence that the party list for both the State Duma of the RF and the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region is headed by the head of the region, Gleb Nikitin. This indicates that the party continues to build clear and effective interaction at all levels of government: from municipalities to the upper echelons. The voter understands that such an approach positively affects the work of all branches of power," noted Yevgeny Semyonov.
Let us remind you that the elections for deputies of the State Duma of the RF and the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region will take place from September 18 to 20, 2026. "United Russia" is the only party in the country that regularly conducts preliminary voting to select candidates for elections at all levels. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, this procedure took place from May 25 to May 31 and confirmed the high trust of citizens. The NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
