      On July 2, 2026, at 17:34, Incidents: Specialists from Rospotrebnadzor have begun an epidemiological investigation and sanitary-anti-epidemic measures following cases of intestinal infection among visitors to one of the cafes in Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported by the press service of the regional administration. During the investigation, violations of sanitary legislation were identified. The establishment's activities are currently suspended. Employees of the Rospotrebnadzor administration, together with specialists from the Federal Budgetary Institution "Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Nizhny Novgorod Region," collected samples of water and food products, as well as swabs from environmental objects for laboratory research. In addition, an examination of the cafe staff is being conducted.

      The situation is under strict control of the Rospotrebnadzor administration for the Nizhny Novgorod region, the agency emphasized.

      Recall that after breakfast at one of the popular cafes on Alekseevskaya Street, five adults and one child sought medical assistance due to a sharp deterioration in health. The boy was hospitalized in an infectious diseases hospital. Preliminary reports indicate that the victims were infected with salmonellosis. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements). Investigators are establishing the circumstances of the incident. The regional prosecutor's office is also interested in the case. The head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed to present a report on the progress of the investigation and the established circumstances of the incident.
