On July 1, 2026, 15:33 Incidents The investigation into the criminal case against a 30-year-old resident of Nizhny Novgorod, accused of attempting to sell narcotic substances in particularly large quantities, has been completed. The materials have been sent to the Volodarsky Court for consideration on the merits, reported the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region. According to the investigation, in November 2024, the man received an online job offer with a high salary and agreed, despite its illegality. His duties included picking up wholesale batches of drugs, packaging them at home into smaller and single doses, as well as distributing them through caches in Nizhny Novgorod and the region. In April of this year, the accused received coordinates for a wholesale cache in the Leningrad region via messenger. Taking a car from an acquaintance, he picked up the prohibited substances and headed to Nizhny Novgorod for subsequent packaging and sale. At the 348th kilometer of the M-7 "Volga" highway in the Volodarsky district, law enforcement officers detained the man. During the inspection of the car, two polymer bags with drugs—methadone with a total weight of about two kilograms—were discovered and seized. A criminal case was initiated under parts 4, 5 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal trafficking of narcotic substances). The accused has been taken into custody.
