      On June 30, 2026, at 12:19, Incidents The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed to present a report on the progress of the inspection organized after reports of the improper condition of the monument to Vladimir Mayakovsky in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region. The reason for this was publications on the internet stating that the cultural heritage site is in unsatisfactory condition. The pedestal, installed in 1965, has not been repaired for a long time. As a result, the granite cladding has deformed and collapsed in places, and cracks have appeared on the slabs. At the same time, in 2024, funds were allocated for the restoration of the monument, but the work was never organized. The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region is conducting a procedural check on this matter. Alexander Bastrykin instructed the acting head of the regional Investigative Committee, Alexander Dynkov, to report on the interim results of the inspection, as well as on the decision that will be made based on its results.
