On June 29, 2026, at 09:47, Society In the Gorodetsky district, the merger of the villages of Karavaevo and Oskardino, as well as the village of Smolki into one settlement is planned. It will retain the name "Smolki" and the status of a village. The corresponding bill has been submitted to the regional legislative assembly. The initiative was put forward by the Zemsky Assembly of the Gorodetsky municipal district in response to residents' appeals. It is aimed at possible participation of the population in the gasification program. According to the regional law "On the Administrative-Territorial Structure of the Nizhny Novgorod Region," a merger is possible if the settlements have actually merged and their engineering, transport, and social infrastructure has become unified. At the same time, the opinion of residents and the representative body of local self-government is necessarily taken into account. Voting was conducted openly, by name, using polling sheets - both at special points and at the place of residence of the participants. In the village of Karavaevo, 9 out of 10 residents (90%) participated in the voting, all of whom supported the merger. In Oskardino, 6 out of 11 people (54.5%) voted - also 100% expressed support. In Smolki, 193 people out of 721 (26.8%) participated, and all of them supported the initiative. It should be noted that earlier the village of Smolki was merged with the villages of Prozorikha, Lugovoe, and Kovrigino. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
