Nizhny Novgorod residents will be able to evaluate trips on public transport using a QR code.
On June 29, 2026, 12:55 Society NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" - Alexandra Turovskaya The public transport evaluation system will be introduced in Nizhny Novgorod starting July 1. This was announced at a press conference dedicated to the launch of a federal project in the region, reports NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" correspondent. Nizhny Novgorod has become the first city in Russia where the "People's Standard of Public Transport" will be implemented. Later, the practice is planned to be extended to all carriers - both state and private, as well as to all regions of the country. Passengers will be invited to rate and answer questions about each trip by scanning a QR code, which will be placed in three parts of the cabin and at stops. Inside the anonymous questionnaire, it will be possible to leave feedback about the waiting time for transport, non-working air conditioners or validators, the lack of notifications about stops, and other issues that arise. The system includes 23 criteria formed based on the analysis of tens of thousands of citizen appeals and monitoring of more than 30 regions of Russia. Each parameter has its own weight in the final assessment, but specific indices are not disclosed. Based on the responses, an average indicator will be formed for specific routes and regions. Additionally, at the end of the questionnaire, there is an open question for suggestions on improving transport services. Initially, stickers with QR codes will appear in electric buses, specifically on five routes - E-6, E-9, E-13, E-17, and E-31 - in the hilly part of the regional center. Developers expect that filling out the questionnaire will take no more than one minute, and no additional applications are required. Later, specialists will work on making access to the resource possible in conditions of mobile internet disconnection. The result of the information collection will be a public rating of routes and, in the future, the formation of a unified methodology for assessing the quality of public transport services. According to the organizers' plans, by September, all public transport in Nizhny Novgorod should be connected to the project.
