The rescued moose calves from the Nizhny Novgorod region are moving to another region.

June 24, 2026 18:50 Society The moose calves rescued in the Volodarsky district are moving to the Kostroma region. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife Protection of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Recall that in May of this year, wild dogs drove the babies away from their mother in the forest near the village of Reshetikha. The calves were not injured, but they experienced severe stress.

State hunting supervision officer Mikhail Myasnikov went to the site and organized safe conditions for the animals. They were sheltered by the equestrian club KSK "Harmony" in the village of Ilyinogorsk, where specialists cared for the young ones, helping them gain strength and recover.

Now the calves will be sent to the Sumarokov moose farm in the Kostroma region, which has been engaged in the rescue, rehabilitation, and maintenance of these ungulates for over 60 years. In this place, the calves will receive professional care, special nutrition, and spacious enclosures. After the calves gain enough strength, they may be returned to their natural habitat.

Earlier, we reported that the Nizhny Novgorod zoo wanted to keep the rescued sea eagle permanently. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
