Rospotrebnadzor excluded the risk of the spread of dengue fever in Russia.
On June 20, 2026, at 15:56, the Society reported that the risk of dengue fever spreading in Russia is absent, according to Rospotrebnadzor. The agency noted that specialists continuously monitor the epidemiological situation both within the country and beyond its borders. According to the service, there is no threat of the disease spreading in Russia, although imported cases of infection are recorded from time to time. Specialists also reminded that a highly sensitive test system developed by experts is used to detect dengue fever. It allows for the rapid identification of the disease's causative agent and timely diagnostics. Additionally, at border crossing points, the "Perimeter" system continues to operate, which analyzes epidemiological risks online and helps control the sanitary and epidemiological situation. The agency drew attention to the outbreak of dengue fever in Sri Lanka. Since the beginning of the year, more than 44,000 cases of the disease have been registered in the country, of which 28 have resulted in fatalities. The most challenging situation has developed in the capital city, Colombo. Russians planning trips to regions where dengue fever is prevalent are advised to take precautions. To protect against insect bites, it is recommended to use repellents, wear long-sleeved clothing and pants, preferably made of light-colored fabrics, and install mosquito nets on windows and doors in living areas. Furthermore, tourists are advised to avoid visiting swampy areas where the risk of contact with disease carriers may be higher. Earlier, we reported that active development of vaccination prevention continues in Russia, contributing to the strengthening of public health. Recently, a new vaccine for adults aimed at protecting against whooping cough, diphtheria, and tetanus was registered in the country. In addition, drugs against meningitis, tuberculosis, tropical dengue fever, and other dangerous diseases are under development. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
