Nizhny Novgorod residents now have access to preventive medicine opportunities with a focus on healthy longevity. A special unit has been established at City Polyclinic No. 7 in Nizhny Novgorod, where patients at risk of developing chronic non-communicable diseases are identified, undergo in-depth examinations, and individual lifestyle correction programs are developed. The first and currently the only Center for Healthy Longevity in the region was created based on the Health Center. Patients are received on the second floor of outpatient department No. 1 at the address: 6 Verkhne-Pechorskaya Street. Citizens attached to any state medical institution in the outpatient sector can attend appointments by referrals issued by therapists, endocrinologists, and specialists from preventive medicine departments, including during visits with examinations at enterprises. The chief physician of City Polyclinic No. 7 in Nizhny Novgorod, Elena Ovchinnikova, explained the main task of the Center for Healthy Longevity. "The task of our specialists is to identify changes in the body's functioning that may lead to premature activation of aging mechanisms and to halt these processes. This work fully aligns with the goals of the national project 'Long and Active Life.' Of course, success will depend primarily on the patient themselves: their commitment to following recommendations and focus on results," emphasized the chief physician. According to the doctor, Polyclinic No. 7 has established a unified approach to routing and dynamic monitoring of patients with risk factors. These include tobacco and electronic cigarette smoking, excess body weight or obesity, irrational nutrition, low physical activity, and harmful alcohol consumption. "A visit to our Center for Healthy Longevity begins with in-depth questioning conducted at a professional level. At this crucial stage, one can assess a person's biological age, quality of life, sleep quality, levels of anxiety and depression, and perceived stress levels. The questioning will also show whether the patient has cognitive impairments, how consciously they make dietary choices, and their overall well-being, activity, and mood," reported Elena Ovchinnikova. The next step for the patient is to undergo examinations. The center assesses muscle strength, joint flexibility, vascular stiffness and age, and conducts body composition analysis. The medical staff has access to modern specialized equipment. "On the same day, a preventive medicine doctor, who has undergone professional training in healthy longevity medicine, conducts a preventive consultation for the patient. The specialist takes into account the results of all previously conducted studies. As a result, the patient receives detailed information about their health status and a personalized action strategy: how to adjust their lifestyle, nutrition, physical activity, how to manage stress, and what to do to improve sleep quality," explained the head of the medical institution. During a personal conversation, the preventive medicine doctor will also determine whether the patient needs a second stage of examinations. If so, the person will be referred for blood tests to conduct additional laboratory studies. "Everyone who contacts the Center for Healthy Longevity is provided with a personal 'Health Passport,' and if necessary, further dispensary observation is established with a certain frequency. To date, about 200 people aged 18 to 79 have already undergone examinations at the center. These are mainly people with obesity, oxidative stress, and metabolic disorders," shared Elena Ovchinnikova with statistics. The Ministry of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod region added that the priorities of the new Center for Healthy Longevity are the coordination of staff actions and continuous patient management throughout the observation period. All recommendations provided to patients are based solely on modern scientific data. It should be noted that the national project 'Long and Active Life' is being implemented in the country by order of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. It involves the modernization of polyclinics, outpatient clinics, and feldsher-midwife stations, attracting an increasing number of qualified medical personnel to medical institutions, applying new approaches in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic diseases, improving emergency medical care and rehabilitation systems, developing a network of national research centers, and digitizing the industry to qualitatively increase the population's life expectancy.
