A sentence has been handed down in Nizhny Novgorod for illegal gambling activities.

      As a result of operational-search activities, police officers established that a resident of Nizhny Novgorod was engaged in illegal activities related to the organization and conduct of gambling outside the gaming zone in the city of Nizhny Novgorod in a specially equipped premises. He attracted four women as operators (administrators) for conducting gambling games. In November 2025, employees of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, together with investigators from the regional Investigative Committee of Russia, stopped the activities of an underground club, from which gaming equipment, cash, and mobile phones were seized. A criminal case was initiated by the investigative authorities on the grounds of a crime under Article 171.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal organization and conduct of gambling). On June 18, 2026, the Nizhny Novgorod District Court issued a guilty verdict against the individuals involved in organizing illegal activities. According to the verdict, the man was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment conditionally with a probation period of 2 years and a fine of 150,000 rubles, while the women received a sentence of 1 year of imprisonment conditionally with a probation period of 1 year. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
