Nizhny Novgorod woman will stand trial for participating in a religious extremist organization.
On June 19, 2026, at 18:42, incidents are being considered in the Avtozavodsky District Court of Nizhny Novgorod regarding a local resident. She is accused of participating in the activities of a religious organization that was liquidated and banned due to its recognition as extremist, the court's press service reported. According to the investigation, from December 2023 to May 2024, the woman, knowing about the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation to ban the organization in the country, continued to participate in the work of its local cell in the Avtozavodsky District. The accused regularly attended meetings of participants, including using video conferencing. Additionally, law enforcement believes she studied specialized materials, discussed ways to attract new supporters, and engaged in spreading the organization's ideology. The woman does not admit her guilt. During the proceedings, she was placed under a measure of restraint in the form of a subscription to not leave and proper behavior. It was previously reported that the police are conducting an investigation due to the theft of copper icons from the sketes of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
