The Volunteers of Victory in the Nizhny Novgorod region congratulated the participant of the Great Patriotic War, Tamara Fyodorovna Runova, on her 102nd birthday. The volunteers presented the veteran with flowers and commemorative gifts. Tamara Fyodorovna Runova was born in 1924 in Murom. She went to the front as a volunteer immediately after finishing school. She served as a signalwoman, ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the communication line at the front. The fearless young signalwoman Tamara went through the combat path from Leningrad to Czechoslovakia, where she met victory. She now lives in Nizhny Novgorod. For her courage and selflessness, Tamara Runova has been awarded the medal "For the Defense of Leningrad," the medal "For Military Merit," and other state and anniversary awards. The volunteers visited the veteran, presented flowers and commemorative gifts. Tamara Fyodorovna shared her memories of the wartime years and the comrades with whom she went through the war. She recounted how she marched through the entire war in size 39 boots despite her size 35 feet. "We didn't think about feats back then — we just did our job. The main thing was that communication should not be interrupted for a minute, so that every order reached on time. And, of course, to bring peace as soon as possible," Tamara Fyodorovna said. "Every birthday of a veteran is a special holiday and an invaluable opportunity to express words of gratitude to a person who has become part of the great history of our country. Tamara Fyodorovna went through the most severe trials of the war, preserving her courage, strength of spirit, and faith in Victory. Today, on her 102nd birthday, it is a great honor for us to be nearby, to see her smile, to hear her memories, and to personally thank her for the peaceful sky above us. By the way, even today, the heroine of the Great Patriotic War actively helps in collecting humanitarian aid for the soldiers of the SVO. A low bow to her from all of us," said Maria Samodelkina, head of the NRO VOD "Volunteers of Victory."
