The student of the Center for Military-Patriotic Education, Theodor Kunilov, took third place at the prestigious international festival for UAV management "DroneCon-2026" in Mongolia.
A student of the Military-Patriotic Education Center, Theodor Kunilov, took third place at the prestigious international drone management festival "DroneCon-2026" in Mongolia. This was reported by the head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, on his social media pages, continuing to talk about the young talents of Nizhny Novgorod. According to the mayor, the tournament at the reserve airport in Ulaanbaatar gathered the strongest drone pilots from Russia, China, South Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia. "For Theodor, participating in such a large competition was a first, but his character overcame the excitement, and the Nizhny Novgorod resident showed class — just as taught at the Military-Patriotic Education Center! The young pilot received his well-deserved award from the hands of the Minister of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia. To ensure that such achievements become more frequent, we continue to develop work in this direction — we recently opened a new drone division in the "Switzerland" park," said Yuri Shalabaev, adding that opportunities for passionate kids like Theodor are increasing in Nizhny. Theodor Kunilov fought for victory as part of the Russian team and took third place in the Tiny Whoop discipline. "Over the weekend, I participated in my first international competition in Mongolia. The atmosphere was wonderful. The event took place at the Ulaanbaatar reserve airfield and included an air show and a concert. I liked the convenient flight system and the spacious area for pilots. During the competition, I met professional pilots. Overall, the race was very tight and interesting. I express my gratitude to all the organizers! The ceremony was very solemn!" shared Theodor Kunilov. As reported by Ivan Khotin, the deputy head of the Maxim Nastin Military-Patriotic Education Center for drone development and engineering, Theodor Kunilov has been studying at the Nizhny Novgorod center's drone operator school for over 2 years. "Theodor has experience participating in and winning competitions of various levels, but this international tournament is his first. Theodor continues to diligently master new areas. We are very pleased with such enthusiasm and help him improve his skills. Such an example inspires other kids to engage in additional education programs with a technical focus. Our task is to interest children, ignite their passion, teach them to see not only entertainment in this but also a profession and a way of life, motivating our students to continue developing in engineering fields," he emphasized.
As previously reported, the head of the city, Yuri Shalabaev, together with the students of the Military-Patriotic Education Center, opened a new drone division in the "Switzerland" park.
