In Bor, a pensioner lost almost 5 million rubles under the pretext of recalculating her pension.
An 80-year-old local resident contacted the duty unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Bor with a statement about the theft of a large sum of money. It has been preliminarily established that at the end of April, the pensioner received a phone call. The caller introduced himself as an employee of the Bor Governor's College and informed her that she was entitled to a pension recalculation. During the further conversation, individuals claiming to be law enforcement officers and Central Bank employees joined the call. They informed her that 600,000 rubles had been transferred from the victim's bank card to a resident of another country and promised to help her avoid being accused of aiding a foreign state. Misled, the woman, following the instructions of the callers, went to the bank, where she withdrew all her savings amounting to 4,615,000 rubles to hand over to a courier under the pretext of ensuring the safety of her funds. After packaging the money according to the instructions, the pensioner proceeded to the location indicated to her and handed the money over to an unknown person. A criminal case has been initiated by the investigative authority on the grounds of a crime under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by an organized group or in a particularly large amount). The sanction of this article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to ten years. Currently, police officers are conducting a comprehensive set of operational-search activities aimed at identifying individuals involved in the commission of the unlawful act. Dear citizens! Be vigilant! Employees of government institutions and law enforcement agencies never call citizens demanding to withdraw money and hand it over to couriers. If the conversation involves money, immediately terminate the communication and contact the police at the numbers 02, 102, or 112.
