      June 17, 2026 13:10 Society The light-music fountain on the Lower Volga embankment in Nizhny Novgorod may be switched to a round-the-clock operation mode. This proposal was made by Vice Mayor Dmitry Sivokhin at a meeting of the permanent commission of the City Duma on municipal economy. The fountain in the walking area was opened in the summer of 2021 for the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod. The length of the "pedestrian" structure is 17.4 meters, and the width is 13 meters. The fountain has no basin: water jets shoot through grates embedded in the surface. In addition, video projections with musical accompaniment can be created on the water screen. According to Dmitry Sivokhin, the facility is one of the main attractions for residents and guests of the city, so it is proposed to make its operation round-the-clock. There are a total of 25 municipal fountains in Nizhny Novgorod: seven are located in the Sormovsky district, five in the Kanavinsky district, four in the Moskovsky district, three in the Nizhny district, two in the Soviet and Kstovsky districts, and one in the Lenin and Avtozavodsky districts.
