The Central Election Commission approved three-day voting for the State Duma elections in 2026.
June 17, 2026 17:04 Politics Voting in the elections for deputies of the State Duma of the IX convocation will take place over three days - from September 18 to 20. The corresponding decision was made at a meeting of the Central Election Commission of Russia, TASS reports. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree appointing the elections for State Duma deputies on September 20. In accordance with current legislation, it is the CEC that determines the duration of voting. "The decision has been made," said the chairwoman of the CEC of the Russian Federation, Ella Pamfilova. The format of multi-day voting was first used in Russia in 2020 during the nationwide voting on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation. At that time, the procedure took place from June 25 to July 1. In July 2020, changes were made to the electoral legislation that allowed elections and referendums to be held over several consecutive days, but no more than three. Subsequently, this practice was applied in federal elections as well. Multi-day voting was first used in the elections for State Duma deputies in 2021, and in the presidential elections of Russia in 2024. It was previously reported that residents of Nizhny Novgorod might be left without internet and communication during the elections. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
