On June 17, 2026, at 15:38, Society: A meeting took place at school No. 189 between students from the summer camp and a veteran of the Special Military Operation, participant of the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program, Alexander Kuritsyn. The event was organized by the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the All-Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory." The meeting was part of the regional patriotic project "Heroes of the Motherland," which is implemented with the support of the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program within the framework of the national project "Youth and Children." For the students from the school camp, this was an opportunity to communicate informally with a combat participant, ask questions of interest, and hear live stories about service, mutual assistance, and resilience. Alexander Kuritsyn participated in combat operations in the Donbass region. For displaying courage and selflessness in the performance of his military duty, he was awarded the Suvorov Medal. Currently, Alexander is a participant in the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program. The veteran shared with the students his combat experience, the challenges faced by servicemen, and why it is especially important to feel support from home. "Meetings with schoolchildren are always a very personal and truly important conversation for me. Each time I feel as if I am returning anew to what I have experienced, recalling people, events, moments that are impossible to forget," noted Alexander Kuritsyn. "Such meetings always leave a strong emotional response. This is not a formal lesson or a dry lecture — it is a living conversation that truly touches the students. Through the personal stories of heroes, an understanding of the value of courage, strength of character, and true love for the Motherland comes. Such moments often become a point of internal growth and rethinking for the youth," emphasized Maria Samodelkina, head of the Nizhny Novgorod regional organization of the "Volunteers of Victory." Since September 2025, more than 280 lessons of courage have already taken place as part of the "Heroes of the Motherland" project. Nizhny Novgorod schoolchildren and students have many more meetings ahead with participants of the Special Military Operation. The project involves 50 heroes of the special military operation, participants of the regional program "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region." It should be noted that since 2025, a national project "Youth and Children" has been in effect in Russia by order of President Vladimir Putin, which fulfills tasks previously outlined in the national projects "Education," "Science and Universities." The national project aims to create opportunities for the development of talents and self-realization of young people, fostering responsible and highly moral individuals. At the center of the national project are the construction and renovation of schools, improving the qualifications of teachers, creating new teaching methodologies, and comfortable learning conditions. Special attention is given to supporting talented youth, including young specialists. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
