      On June 16, 2026, at 10:24 AM, Politics President of Russia Vladimir Putin announced the elections for the deputies of the State Duma of the IX convocation to be held on September 20, 2026. The corresponding decree No. 428 was published on June 16 on the official legal information portal. The publication of the document marks the official start of the campaign for the elections of the lower house of the new parliament, said the chairwoman of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova. According to her, from June 16, the conduct of electoral activities related to the preparation and organization of voting begins. During the elections, a new composition of the State Duma will be determined. A total of 450 deputies will be elected. Half of the mandates—225—will be distributed across single-member electoral districts, while another 225 deputies will be elected from the federal electoral district.
