The repair of the sidewalk connecting Patriot Street, the Smorodina residential complex, and the Old Avtozavodskoye cemetery has been completed in the Avtozavodsky district at the request of residents.

According to the district administration, local residents requested the continuation of the sidewalk repair, part of which was completed by the developer of the residential complex in 2022. The head of the district administration, Alexander Nagin, inspected the quality of the work performed by the contractor during an inspection tour with residents. "By the decision of the city head Yuri Shalabaev, 1.5 million rubles were allocated for the construction of the sidewalk. Residents have asked to tidy up this section, as there is high traffic intensity in this area, and it was not always comfortable to walk. Part of this project was built at the expense of the developer of the residential complex in 2022, and the remaining section was repaired by the contracting organization using allocated targeted funds," said the head of the district, adding that the safety of citizens is a top priority and work on landscaping and ensuring safety in the Avtozavodsky district will continue. According to the head of the district road department, Evgeny Shalyavin, the sidewalk repair is now fully completed. "This section connects the Old Avtozavodskoye cemetery and a large residential complex with Patriot Street – one of the important Avtozavod roads with public traffic. All major construction work on the sidewalk repair has been successfully completed. The old pavement was dismantled, a foundation of sand and gravel was prepared, curbs were laid, and finally, asphalt was applied. All work was completed on schedule. Now we are just waiting for the results of the laboratory test of the asphalt, which will confirm its quality," he said. Local residents, whose request was fulfilled, give their main assessment of the sidewalk. "We often use this road. It used to be problematic: two children, one in a stroller, the other on a bicycle, plus scooters – all of this created difficulties. The main problem was safety, as we had to walk right on the roadway, where traffic was very intense. Therefore, we are incredibly happy about the appearance of this sidewalk! Now it has become comfortable to walk, and most importantly, safe. I am calm about my child riding ahead on a bicycle, and I no longer have to constantly stop him and ask him to wait. We are very satisfied," said Avtozavod resident Alyona Mazeva. "The sidewalk is necessary for safe movement: to walk to the store, to the clinic, and just for errands. The sidewalk is also important for our children: in the evening they ride their bikes, and mothers walk with strollers. It is especially convenient that the sidewalk has been extended almost to the cemetery," said resident Lyubov Ivanovna from the Molokhny settlement. "It is clear that our district is developing rapidly, and I hope that these improvements will last a long time. Every day I notice something new in the landscaping - flower beds, benches, road repairs - and this is very pleasing," said Avtozavod resident Marina Koltsova.

      As previously reported, road repairs are underway on Kislovodskaya Street in Nizhny Novgorod as part of the "It's Your Decision!" initiative budgeting project. This year, six initiatives from residents will be implemented under the project, including the repair of asphalt surfaces at kindergartens No. 154, 167, 461, and Lyceum No. 180, as well as the improvement of two roads in the private sector - on Kislovodskaya Street and Lermontov Street.
