In Nizhny Novgorod, officials are being checked due to the construction of a WB warehouse.
In Nizhny Novgorod, a criminal case has been initiated for negligence related to the implementation of the Wildberries logistics center project in the Novinki settlement. The basis for this was the appeals from local residents who requested a review of the legality of decisions regarding the construction of a warehouse near the residential complex "Oksky Bereg." The investigation is being conducted by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region.
A large warehouse complex for the marketplace is planned to be built on a site bounded by Parkovaya, Vysokaya, and Polyotnaya streets, next to the residential development "Oksky Bereg." According to the project, the area of the facility will be about 150,000 square meters, with warehouse and administrative-living buildings ranging from one to three stories high, as well as parking for 250 vehicles. Investments in construction are estimated at a minimum of 12 billion rubles, with the number of new jobs expected to reach up to 7,000.
According to the Information Center of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region, the initiation of the case was prompted by citizens' appeals, including those posted on social media. People requested an assessment of the legality of the actions of officials who approved the project and made decisions regarding the preparation of the site for construction. After reviewing these complaints, a case was opened under the article on negligence.
The regional Investigative Committee explained that as part of the investigation, specialists will study the project documentation and check how justified the decisions made by all involved officials were. The investigation aims to determine whether any violations occurred during the approval of the logistics complex and how they could have affected the interests of the residents of Novinki and nearby neighborhoods.
Residents of the Novinki settlement and surrounding neighborhoods have been opposing the placement of a large warehouse near their homes since the spring of 2025. They fear that after the logistics center opens, the area will turn into an industrial zone, heavy machinery will constantly drive through the streets, road loads will increase, and the ecological situation will worsen. These arguments were presented by residents in complaints sent to various authorities.
Representatives of the company, in turn, stated that the facility would not be an industrial warehouse but a modern high-tech logistics center. According to them, a green zone is planned to be created on the territory, noise protection screens and special lighting will be installed, and transportation routes will be organized so that trucks do not pass through residential areas.
Regional authorities emphasized that the project should provide the Nizhny Novgorod region with significant economic benefits and thousands of jobs. At the same time, the actions of officials involved in the project approval will now be subject to a criminal investigation. Investigators continue to establish all circumstances related to the construction of the logistics complex in Novinki.
