On June 15, 2026, at 18:10, Incidents In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the investigation into a criminal case of illegal entrepreneurship and large-scale theft has been completed. Charges have been brought against two residents of the region.
According to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the investigation suggests that from 2023 to 2025, the defendants organized the extraction of sand on land plots near Dzerzhinsk without the necessary permission from the regional Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. Investigators believe that the extracted sand was loaded into dump trucks and then sold.
According to law enforcement agencies, more than 263 thousand tons of minerals were illegally extracted during this period. The damage caused to the state has been estimated at over 49 million rubles.
The illegal activity was uncovered by employees of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region, in collaboration with specialists from the regional Ministry of Ecology.
During the searches, law enforcement officers seized dump trucks, a loader, computer equipment, documentation, and other items relevant to the investigation.
The criminal case, initiated under articles on theft and illegal entrepreneurship, has been sent to the Dzerzhinsk City Court for substantive consideration.
Materials regarding a third alleged participant in the illegal activity have been separated into a separate proceeding.
