The team from the Nizhny Novgorod region was among the winners of the II Video Essay Contest "Dreams of the Future."
On June 13, 2026, at 09:30, a solemn award ceremony for the winners of the II Video Essay Competition "Dreams of the Future" took place at the National Center "Russia." A team from the Nizhny Novgorod region made it into the top twenty and received a prize. According to the competition rules, participants had to combine AI content and live filming in a short video, featuring all team members, addressing important topics, and engaging in dialogue with masters of science fiction. The "Nizhny Novgorod Wave" team presented a video essay titled "Anthropocene: A Leap into Synthesis." The video is structured as a fantasy about the lives of two ordinary teenagers: in 2026, they are just school students, but later, it is Lesha and Sasha who invent the "controlled sun"—a thermonuclear engine and biolinguistics that helps understand all living beings. The heroes celebrate their centenary in a flying city—a aeropolis, with lights of alien ships glowing on the horizon. The winner in the age category of 12-15 years was a team from Sevastopol, second place went to the guys from the Vologda region, and third place to teenagers from the Republic of Moldova. In the age category of 16-18 years, the first place was taken by a team from the Republic of Bashkortostan. Second place went to school students from the Republic of Khakassia, and third place to the guys from the Altai Territory. The prize in the special nomination of the National Center "Russia" was awarded to a team from Transnistria. A total of 935 teams participated in the competition from 89 regions of Russia, as well as from 10 neighboring republics: Uzbekistan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Transnistria. The total number of participants was 3,740. The video essay competition "Dreams of the Future" continues to work on reviving public interest in future design, which was initiated at the International Symposium "Creating the Future." The competition is held as part of the Decade of Science and Technology with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. It should be noted that the National Center "Russia" was established by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to preserve the legacy of the International Exhibition-Forum "Russia" and to demonstrate the achievements of the country and its citizens on a permanent basis.
