Reservists of "BARS-NN" were awarded for protecting the Nizhny Novgorod region on Russia Day.

      On June 12, 2026, at 19:45 Society On Russia Day, June 12, distinguished reservists of the mobilization reserve "BARS-NN" were awarded letters of gratitude from the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The awards were given for conscientious service and the fulfillment of tasks to ensure the security of the region. Territorial defenders demonstrated their capabilities during combat duty, including repelling attacks from enemy drones on critically important facilities. Along with the letters of gratitude, the fighters were presented with commemorative gifts. The reservists were congratulated by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Vladimir Tuzhilin, and the commander of the "BARS-NN" unit with the call sign "Lawyer."

      "On Russia Day - the main state holiday - we awarded the fighters of our 'BARS-NN' unit for their displayed heroism and selflessness in carrying out combat tasks. Most of the guys are on duty around the clock, hitting targets and countering the enemy. The residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region are under the protection of true patriots. Our regional unit 'BARS-NN' stands on the front lines, which we value very highly," said Vladimir Tuzhilin.

      The ceremony took place directly at the combat positions - in field conditions during the units' duty. The commander of the mobile fire group "Vulkan" noted that for him this award is a sign that their work is seen and appreciated. He admitted that receiving gratitude from the head of the region on Russia Day is especially pleasant. The fighters themselves associate the high evaluation of their service with successful counteractions against drone air attacks. A machine gunner from the mobile fire group with the call sign "Ataman" reported that he participated in repelling two UAVs heading towards one of the enterprises.

      "Thanks to the vigilance of our fighters, we determined the flight direction and destroyed the drones - the enemy had no chance. The tasks were completed in full. I consider this award well-deserved, and we will continue to work at full capacity," emphasized the reservist.

      The military commissariat reminded that service in the "BARS-NN" unit takes place exclusively in the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region and does not involve deployment to the zone of special military operations. Recruitment is voluntary: contracts are concluded through the military commissariats of municipalities. The service format allows for it to be combined with regular work. During gatherings, jobs and salaries are preserved for reservists, and provisions are made for payments, equipment, meals, medical care, and insurance. Additionally, there are extra support measures in the region for the reservists and their families.
