New areas of work for the "Defenders of the Fatherland" fund have been announced.
A meeting of the Supervisory Board of the State Fund "Defenders of the Fatherland" was held in Moscow, where the results of its work were summarized and new areas of activity were discussed. The fund was established by the decree of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. Over three years of operation, a comprehensive system of social support for veterans of the special military operation and their family members has been formed. According to the first deputy head of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the fund, Sergey Kiriyenko, the effectiveness of this work is confirmed by the veterans themselves and their relatives.
He noted that during the existence of the fund, the areas of activity have been expanded, new support measures have been introduced, and the assistance system has become more targeted and comprehensive. A key indicator remains the assessment from the recipients of assistance. According to sociological research, the level of trust in the fund has exceeded 90%.
The most in-demand areas of the fund's work remain the processing of social support measures, the appointment of payments related to participation in the special military operation, the provision of legal assistance, as well as assistance in obtaining certificates of combat veterans and certificates for the families of deceased veterans.
One of the key areas is assistance in obtaining medical care. Veterans undergo health screenings based on a model developed by the fund. This includes identifying special medical organizations in the regions responsible for conducting examinations and further routing of patients.
As a result of health screenings, more than 20,000 diseases were identified among veterans for the first time in 2025, allowing for timely initiation of necessary treatment. To provide psychological assistance to families with children, an additional 480 educational psychologists have been recruited since 2025. In cases of acute crisis situations, specialists from the psychological service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia are involved.
The fund pays special attention to veterans with severe injuries. Over three years, more than 6,500 veterans with disabilities have received rehabilitation equipment, including prosthetics, sports wheelchairs, trainers, 550 cars with hand controls, and over 1,600 high-functional sports prosthetics.
To improve the quality of life for veterans with disabilities, more than 3,200 apartments and residential buildings have been adapted. Additionally, starting in 2025, the fund provides veterans with sets of adaptive clothing. To date, 2,700 such sets have been issued.
Issues of training, retraining, and employment are playing an increasingly important role in the fund's work. Social coordinators help veterans find job vacancies considering their professional experience, needs, and possible health limitations.
More than 22,000 veterans of the special military operation have sought assistance in employment, with over half of them already finding jobs. More than 15,000 inquiries have been received regarding training and retraining, with 68% of those who applied directed to educational programs.
With the support of the fund, more than 17,000 veterans of the special military operation regularly engage in sports, including over 4,500 veterans with disabilities. More than 750 individuals have joined regional teams for adaptive sports, and 70 veterans have become members of national teams.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia, the state information system "Defender of the Fatherland" has been put into operation. It allows for the automation of individual support plans, tracking the provision of support measures in real-time, and receiving feedback from veterans.
The fund's powers continue to expand. Since March 2025, the organization has been assisting the families of missing participants of the special military operation. Work has been organized for them to provide biological material, fill out identification cards, and receive psychological and legal assistance.
The President of Russia supported the fund's initiative to develop project activities. For this purpose, it is planned to create a Project Committee within the central office structure, which will focus on systematizing the preparation and implementation of projects, as well as participating in the development of state programs to support veterans of the special military operation and other categories of citizens.
The State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Chairwoman of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" fund, Anna Tsivileva, emphasized that the expansion of the fund's powers is related to the real requests of people who have undergone severe trials. According to her, the organization is in constant contact with veterans, relatives of the deceased and missing servicemen, which allows for timely identification of needs and offering new support measures.
The head of state also supported the proposal to include active servicemen with disabilities and participants in repelling aggression in border areas, who have become disabled due to injuries, in the fund's work. They will be provided with rehabilitation equipment, assistance in adapting housing, as well as opportunities for engaging in adaptive physical education and sports.
In addition, the fund has begun issuing certificates of combat veterans to servicemen of the assault units "Storm Z". The decision to grant such status is made by a commission of the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
In 2025, the fund's subdivisions began operating in large municipalities of the Moscow region, as well as in the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. Their activities are organized according to the same standards as the work of the regional branches of the fund. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
