An exhibition by Vyacheslav Shlyandin has opened at the NGHM.

      In the space of "NGHM | Art of the 20th Century," the exhibition "The Nature of Balance" (0+) has opened, featuring more than 30 graphic works by Moscow artist Vyacheslav Shlyandin from his family's collection for the first time. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Vyacheslav Shlyandin was a graphic artist, a master of urban and natural landscapes, and portraiture. In 1966, he graduated from the Moscow Polygraphic Institute and became a member of the Moscow Union of Artists in 1975. He worked in the etching studio named after I.I. Nivinsky, collaborated with major publishing houses for over 30 years, served as the art editor of the magazine "Murzilka," and was the deputy art editor of the magazine "Our Heritage." He participated in Moscow, Russian, and All-Union exhibitions. In his last years, he lived in the village of Lyubets in the Vladimir region. His works are held in museums and private collections in Russia and abroad. As noted by the exhibition curator Marta Bondareva, rural landscapes held a special place in the artist's work. He primarily worked in the 1960s to 1980s, preferring ink as his main medium. According to the artist's widow, Irina Shlyandina, the master's creative method was based on constant practice and working from nature, especially in the village. Compositions were created step by step—from the precise stroke of the brush and line to the complete work. The exhibition complements the understanding of domestic art of the second half of the 20th century. After the artist's death, his works were acquired by the State Tretyakov Gallery. In 2021, Irina Shlyandina donated four works to the gallery, including two portraits of Yevgeny Teis and two landscapes. Art historian and researcher of the 20th-century graphic arts department at the State Tretyakov Gallery, Ekaterina Skarednova, noted that the presented works illustrate the traditions of the Moscow school of graphics, formed at the Polygraphic Institute. The exhibition will run until August 16. Admission is available via the "Pushkin Card." The "Pushkin Card" program operates within the framework of the national project "Family," which started in Russia in 2025 at the initiative of President Vladimir Putin. Virtual cards can be issued to Russian citizens aged 14 to 22 in the "Gosuslugi.Culture" app. The card limit is 5,000 rubles and is renewed annually on January 1. Funds can be used to visit cultural institutions across the country. In 2026, the operator bank servicing the "Pushkin Card" changed in all regions of Russia.
